Here you will see handcrafted sterling silver jewelry, designed by me, Sima Menora, and produced by Ethiopian immigrants to Israel. There are roughly 100,000 Ethiopians now living in Israel and many of them do not have the language, education or professional skills to aquire good jobs with reasonable salaries. Women with excellent fine-motor skills often find themselves in jobs requiring more manual labor than intellectual skills.

I started out my life in Israel as a stay-at-home mom with household help and the ability to volunteer for all sorts of community service. Yes, the typical carpool mom/fundraiser.

Suddenly my life took some drastic turns and I was faced with the great challenge of being a single mother of five. I found myself needing to make some serious career choices. As in starting one! It was time to learn a trade, and I chose to study handcrafted silver jewelry.

JewelrybySima.com began as a way to supplement my income and turned into my second great joy. (My first great joy is of course my five great kids!)

Jewelry by Sima is aimed at the independent woman of the second millennium. She works hard and plays hard but is always feminine. She strives to be the best she can be, not necessarily versus others but versus herself. It doesn't matter what she's serving – aces on the tennis court, dinner for ten or an excellent business proposal – she's always trying to be a better person.

Our company philosophy is 'be your best, do your best, give your best'. Put plainly, we all have challenges. Get over it. Each person has to decide for herself if she's going to rise above her personal challenges, how high above them, and if she's going to help others do likewise.

The Ethiopians, many of whom have tracelled great distances by foot to arrive in Israel, are perfect examples of just how far you can get with perseverance and tenacity. Enjoy browsing and take a part in the dream!
